Maybe you know me as family, a friend (or friend of a friend), through MySpace, Threadless, or the 365 Project on Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/peacewishes/ ) or maybe someone was kind enough to send you here.
I am a high school junior in New Jersey and have been invited to travel with People-to-People to Spain, France, and Italy as a student ambassador in June of 2008. This is quite an honor and a chance to interact with citizens of these countries as a representative of the United States.
"The purpose of People to People International is to enhance international understanding and friendship through educational, cultural and humanitarian activities involving the exchange of ideas and experiences directly among peoples of different countries and diverse cultures...Founded on September 11, 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, People to People International was privatized in 1961 and...is incorporated as a not-for-profit organization." (http://www.ptpi.org/about_us/History.aspx).
This is a fantastic and rare educational opportunity, but, unfortunately, it is not free. The cost of the experience is approximately $6000. It is my hope that I can raise some of the cost through this invisible bake sale- without adding unnecessary calories to anyone's life! So, if a piece of cake or pie is calling your name and you don't want to put on the pounds, feel free to send what it would have cost for that piece of pastry here!
If I am fortunate enough to go over the trip's cost, any extra money will be donated to People-to-People, to help other students' learning experiences. If you would like to help out, please send a donation to my paypal account by clicking the button below and /or send this page to someone else who just might help!
Thank you so much for just reading this, and for any contributions you choose to make. Even $1 can make a big difference! I really appreciate every single contribution and thought. Thank you once more.
John Michael
